How to have 100 times the impact – with hardly any effort
As children, youth and families leaders we want to see the people we come into contact with grow in faith and their relationship with God.
In the very first Lunch with Leaders webinar, Rachel shared the secret of how we can, with very little extra effort, ramp up the effectiveness of what we do.

The aim of this webinar is to show you how to have lots more impact in your ordinary everyday work in church but without expending lots more time, energy or resources.
People sometimes talk about churches and parents and carers as a partnership, rowing a boat, one oar each. But the reality is that if two separate people are rowing one boat, it isn’t easy. You might not pull at the same strength, or different approaches to how to row. You might have different attitudes to hazards or routes or go at different speeds. Or one person may stop all together and the boat will simply go round in circles.
Parents and carers and church are unequal partners. Parents and carers have more knowledge of and far more time with their kid. So it’s unrealistic for the church to be able to be equal in this relationship. A better analogy would be that the parent or carer to be in the boat, while the church is on the bank, cheering them on, helping them spot hazards, keeping them going.
Adopting this coaching role will bring more fruit. Parents and carers are the best placed to do the day to day discipling, knowing how to adapt things for their kid, having the time and knowledge to do so well, and are there in their kids’ everyday ups and downs. When church stops trying to be the primary discipler of children and teens and sees themselves as the supportive, encouraging, resourcing coach, the effectiveness of what you do in your groups and services will be multiplied as parents and carers gain confidence and the skills to disciple effectively in their kids’ day to days.
