Encouraging without labels

We all want to encourage our kids and grow confidence in them. So we often do it by pointing out what we love about them or what they do well.

And the world does it as well. So our children hear things like: ‘You’re the sporty one’, ‘She’s an amazing mathematician’ or ‘He’s the entertainer’. And these can become labels which our kids use to define themselves. But as Rachel shares in this extract from The Parenting for Faith podcast, this can set them up for a crisis of confidence.

So what happens if instead of labelling kids, we encourage them in other ways?
